Can Hand Sanitizer Make Me Test Positive for Alcohol?

Everyone is using more hand sanitizer these days to protect against exposure to COVID-19, especially more vulnerable front line workers like those who work in foodservice, grocery stores, doctors’ offices, and other public-facing businesses.

But can excessive use of hand sanitizer be the cause of a drug test that’s positive for ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and ethyl sulfate (EtS), metabolites of ethanol?
